Out there on the World Wide Web, there are nasty little programs known as "spambots". All these little spider programs do is crawl around the web, searching for email addresses embedded in web pages. When they find them, they collect them and they are sold or otherwise circulated to unscrupulous people who want to send "spam", or unsolicited commercial email, some of which is pretty offensive.

What if you want to put an email link on your website, but you don't want to risk unduly exposing yourself to this sort of email abuse? Simple. Make sure that your email address link works for humans but not for spambots! That's what this tool does. It obfucates your email address.

Please note that ALL this tool does is take standard ASCII and convert it to something that will render visibly in a web page but which spambot spiders will be less able to read. It is not 100% foolproof, as there are a few spiders that can, apparently, figure it out, but it is a means of somewhat safeguarding your address for use in a web page.

This tool cannot affect your inbox, nor can it remove your address of any spam lists that you may already be on. It's just a little quickie tool that many people have found useful, and which is offered for people to use if they want.

Rest assured that we don't keep any record whatsoever of addresses processed by this tool, nor is there any way to even do that. This is all all done entirely "on the fly" and in real time, via a CGI script. We hate spam and we value your privacy. (See our Privacy Policy if you wish.)
